We are happy to announce that we will be departing for Haiti in just one week. We are so excited to get back, and this trip’s focus is on making fresh vegetables accessible to the communities we will work with. The first project is an elevated micro-farm at the Maison orphanage. We are beyond excited that we will be bringing fresh vegetables to these kids. We have partnered with Harvest107 and the plans look amazing. Our intention is plant lettuce, okra, tomatoes, cucumbers, and so much more on the property. These foods have been previously hard to obtain due to cost and other variables. We are going to change that. The best part is that all of Harvest107’s micro-farms are self-sustaining, so this work will benefit children for years to come. We will post pictures and updates during the entire process for your enjoyment.
In addition to the planting projects, we will be working with the children there and aiding in repairs again. We will provide love, attention, and mentoring to the children there. Our second project is with KOFAEL. We will be providing a smaller scale micro-farm to benefit those women. The installation will go in at their meeting house, which is right around the corner from Maison. This organization provides microloans to women in order to start their own businesses and keep their families intact. The program is wildly successful and we are so happy to provide nutritious food options into their lives.
The toughest part of the work that we do is fundraising. It is never easy to ask for help.
We have not raised all of the money needed to complete these projects and stay the month to follow through. Your support is greatly needed and time is limited with us departing in just one week.
